RETIRED & SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM



Burbank's Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is seeking volunteers age 55+ for the following volunteer opportunity.

FRIENDLY VISITORS

DEFINITION: To provide a companion for a homebound senior by offering visitation by volunteers at least once a week.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: People skills, ability to communicate with the public. English, Spanish helpful.

VOLUNTEER SERVICE DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: To be a companion for a homebound senior at lease once a week. Write a detailed description after each visit. Needs to check-in with Social Services Coordinator (once/twice) a month to provide an update.

HOURS/TIME COMMITMENT: At least an hour per week. Weekday and weekend morning and afternoon hours are available.

TRAINING/ORIENTATION DESCRIPTION: Training will be provided. Prior to visiting, volunteer must establish a relationship over the phone. Once relationship is established, volunteer can begin visiting.

BENEFITS: Will bring joy to a homebound senior who truly needs a companion.
