President Obama on The Tonight Show

BURBANK, CA - President Barack Obama made an appearance in "Beautiful downtown Burbank" for a short time on Thursday, March 19th, where for a filming of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Much of the discussion focused on AIG and the US economy, although the President lightened the mood with some self-deprecating jokes.

One attempt at humor might cause a bit of backlash however, as the President referred to the Special Olympics when discussing his bowling accumen. Before the show aired, the White House issued a statement to try and remedy the situation. “The president made an offhand remark making fun of his own bowling that was in no way intended to disparage the Special Olympics,” said Bill Burton, a White House spokesman.

The President's appearance on Leno was the first time a sitting President went on a late night talk show.
