Burbank, California has had a float in the Tournament of Roses Parade since 1914. From 1914 through 1946, the Burbank Chamber of Commerce was responsible for creating Burbank's float entry, but in 1947, the Burbank Tournament of Roses Association was established to build and decorate Burbank's float. All float building and decoration is done at the Burbank Water and Power Yard, on Olive Street in Burbank.
Just as soon as the New Year's Rose Parade concludes, the Association begins to prepare for the following year's entry. Meetings are held throughout the year, where float concepts are discussed among members of the organization, and the float is designed on paper. The BTORA holds a variety of fundraisers throughout the year to help pay for the float, and they are always looking to find float sponsors from the Burbank community.
The Burbank Tournament of Roses organization accepts volunteers aged 5 and up. Those under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Those under the age of 18 must have a release form signed by a parent or guardian. Everyone must have a signed Release form signed before working. Release forms are available on-site or on the Burbank Tournament of Roses Association website.
