(Burbank, CA, October 12, 2010) – The Burbank Community YMCA announced its first “Turkey Trot” 5K/10K run, and 1K Fun Run for children, set for Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 25th. “We’re starting a new, healthy Thanksgiving tradition,” said YMCA CEO, JC Holt. “One of the Y’s main focus areas is healthy living and this is a great way to kick off the holiday.”
The certified course will wind through downtown Burbank. Day of registration begins at 6am and the race begins at 8am. This run is challenging enough for the experienced runner but easy enough for first time runners and families, too. In fact the Y is currently offering two outdoor walk/run groups. Groups meet at the Y on Wednesday evenings and Sundays mornings. They’re open to the public and you can join any time.
Pre-registration is also available online at www.burbankturkeytrot.com or at the Y, located at 321 E. Magnolia Boulevard in downtown Burbank.
The Y’s Financial Development Director Philip DiNova said that “proceeds from this event fund the Y’s financial assistance program. With contributions from our community, the Y can help people of all ages and from all walks of life be healthier and more confident and secure. We are so pleased that our presenting sponsor, The Cusumano Real Estate Group and our Media Sponsor Azteca 54 Television share in our goal to strengthen the foundations of our community.”
Added Holt, “Burbank is one of the country’s best communities for young people. The Y’s Turkey Trot is another creative, fun way to help people in our community lead, healthy, productive lives.”
